The Crap On The Internet We Like This Week (September 20th – September 24th)
Written by Mekanism at 11:30 am • • No Commentsawesomeness, content, digital,

Sadly, everyone was “working” a lot last week and it’s been tough to be funny and/or put together a bunch of videos that we want to waste your time with.

At any rate, most of us still took the time to find the worthless crap that we love so much. By most of us I mean people outside of our nerd department. And by that I mean, “people who don’t speak in 0’s and 1’s.” I know. It’s as complicated as it sounds.

Here’s the crap we liked on the internet this…er…last week.

Mia Andersen: John Tesh “Roundball Rock”

Yes. That’s actually John Tesh, actually NOT acting and telling you in a really serious manner how he created this song. Doesn’t this seem like an SNL skit? Mia, by the way, is becoming a “crap we like” ringer for someone who strongly claims that females do not really “go to youtube”. Really, Mia? Because this is amazing. You lose…which means, essentially, you win in our nerd hearts.

Nicolette Bethea: The Unseen Sea

If you live in San Francisco, this video is absolutely phenomenal to watch. If you don’t live in San Francisco, this is me saying your city is stupid and we’re better.

Gino Click (@ginobot): Creepy Justin Bieber Dancing Dad

Have I mentioned that Gino is kind of a fan of Justin Bieber?

Elijah Bilotta (@frodoBKK): Joaquin Phoenix Isn’t Crazy.

Which, well, is kind of depressing. And in no way did we see this coming!

I watched it over the weekend myself. Here are my thoughts:

1) He sucks.

Oh, wait. I’m done.

Natira Suchoknand: Victorinox Swiss Army Knife

Tell me you don’t want to go break cars for no apparent reason right now.

Drew Hoolhorst (@drewber): Never Say No To Panda

My friend Dave and I have polar opposite tastes in commercials. We often talk about while I love anything with animals talking ironically and/or sarcasm, he enjoys “ball hits/people getting hit in the balls/the one where that guy gets hit in the balls”. Amazingly, this is finally one we agreed on. I was legitimately crying laughing when I first saw this.

See you next…er…this Friday.

Meet a Mekanista: Gino Click
Written by Mekanism at 3:33 pm • • 2 Comments

Every Wednesday, we would love for you to dig deeper into the soul of someone from Mekanism.

I know. It’s Thursday. Just pretend we hit our make believe deadline and got this in on time.

Meet Gino Click, our Social Media Copywriter, which is a fancy sounding title that you’re going to try and steal for your own now.

Click on the image, otherwise he’s just a fairly small picture and appears to have animal ears. He does not have animal ears in real life. He is very good at writing though, and he likes Justin Bieber an entirely aggressive amount.

We asked him questions, and he answered. Well, technically he wrote it, so he asked himself questions and then in turn answered himself.

The Crap On The Internet We Like This Week (September 13th – September 17th)
Written by Mekanism at 12:53 pm • • 1 Commentawesomeness, content, digital,

Here’s what happened on the internet this week that I don’t feel like talking about.

  • YouTube introduced their streaming platform. Our bets are on the fact that this won’t be made totally available to the public until they figure out the “every creepy guy wants to show his junk when a video camera is on” internet problem.
  • Twitter made “New Twitter.” If you want to read about it, it’s impossible, but you CAN search for #NewTwitter and find a bunch of people who are like, totally bummed they don’t have #NewTwitter yet. NewTwitter. In case we haven’t said it enough yet, #NewTwitter. (This is not funny unless you are entirely nerdy and have too much time to spend on the internet. RE: me.)

The rest of it is on full display below. Because, frankly, a raunchy A Capella and a video that presupposes a cat’s feelings pretty much sum up the only other crap we find important.

Here’s the crap we liked on the internet this week.

Brendan Gahan (@BrendanGahan): B*tches Ain’t $h*t

What I did with the title of this video is hilarious to me. It says “I don’t want to put the swear words on the company blog”, yet I’m entirely okay with YouTube then putting the actual title of the video in the overlay of the video. NSFW. But  hilarious.

Ryan Lee (@owlsquid): Kidnapper FAIL

No words really needed here. You just need to be 8 years old. Which is basically the sense of humor level of the entire Mekanism workforce.

Gino Click (@ginobot): Cat PSA Announcement

Ever wonder how cats feel about their internet popularity?

Elijah Bilotta (@frodoBKK): I Still Have A Soul (HBO Boxing)

When people say that “content is king” and other marketing jargon like that…this is what they mean. Incredibly well done spot that makes you want to learn how to box. I mean, I’m scared hurting people’s feelings, and now I even want to go punch things.

Natira Suchoknand: Climbing A 1,768 Foot Transmission Tower

I just threw up watching this. In other news, we’d like to make a Twitter account for Natira, though she’s been fighting it tooth and nail. @Natirex. C’MON Natira. It’s a winner.

Drew Hoolhorst (@drewber): Don’t Turn The Lights On

I miss when MTV played “music videos”…but I guess I’m employed by “the internet”, and as a boss he thinks that “the television” is sort of dead.

Chromeo though. Man. These guys are a white boy’s dream.

See you next Friday.
